After all the fresh, dry powder yesterday, and watching it accumulate all night, this morning's wet snow was a bummer. It was more of a bummer as we arrived at Pico and were told about a lift hold until 10am. While they had been closed since Tuesday, they only sent a crew out to shovel the lifts at 7am today.
Not a chance that the Summit Express was going to open. Only two lower trails were groomed. The rest were like glue. You should have seen the snowboarders. They looked like flies on sticky paper.
Dee and Annie quit. Annie was tired from yesterday and they both thought lunch in Woodstock was a better idea. Wet, wet, wet.
Michael & Alden left the lift line for Killington. Steve, Hope, and I followed. Killington honored Hope's Pico lift pass. Pretty cool. Ask Alden and he'll tell you how he got a $25 Vermont Day ticket.
Mike & Alden skied the Canyon all morning. It was fabulous. I took East Fall after lunch and he was right. Problem is visibility got horrendous after lunch. I didn't ski it, I survived it.
Everywhere at Killington was great, but a wetter consistency than yesterday. There is a ton of snow here. And it's still coming down.
Lounging at the Chardonnay Chalet, Steve & Michael sport their Corona and Miller Lite bottoms. Michael proudly boasts to Hope how he bought them. Hope asks, "Do you do all your clothes shopping in the liquor store?" Michael is drinking Chardonnay and eating a brownie. I'm not sure that's a combination you'll see in Food & Wine Magazine anytime soon. Personally, I'd choose a fine Cab or Shiraz with chocolate.
The last two nights Michael slept with Annie and tonight he's with Hope. Good Heavens!
